KicarBox is a small team of 1:64 collectors in Dortmund, Germany. We build one thing, and we build it properly: a hard, dust-proof display case you can actually carry.
Born from a simple belief that a casting deserves the same protection as the full-size car it copies, we design around the details collectors notice first — the double latch, the base plate, and the clip that holds on a backpack.
THE STORY
In 2024, our founder Lee was sitting in his room in Dortmund, looking at his favourite 1:64 diecast cars — his castings, all loose, all long since unboxed. One in particular: a stunning, custom-built Liberty Walk Lamborghini. It looked incredible, but it sat on a shelf collecting dust — in the door gaps, in the wheels, everywhere you can never quite get it out again. Every time Lee wanted to show it at a local car meet or clip it to his backpack, he risked scratching the paint, damaging the decals or snapping off delicate parts.
So he did what most collectors would do. He bought a plain acrylic box online. Then a jewellery case. He even tried thick zip-lock bags. But they all had the same problems: the plastic scratched almost immediately, none of them were genuinely dust-proof, the lids popped open out of nowhere, they could not be attached securely to a bag or a backpack and, honestly, they made a quality model car look cheap.
After his favourite casting lost its spoiler in a flimsy box, a thought stuck with Lee and would not let go:
Why has nobody simply made a display case that protects the car properly, stays crystal clear, and can be carried safely on a backpack?
Nobody had. So he did.
THE BUILD
Lee spent the next 12 months testing materials, closures and mounts. Not the cheap, brittle acrylic you find in budget display boxes — he wanted high-grade, impact-resistant acrylic that shrugs off everyday knocks and stays clear for good, without yellowing over time.
The result is the KicarBox: a hard, dust-proof case with a base plate, a secure double latch so your casting never falls out, and a rugged carabiner clip to attach it almost anywhere. Inside it measures 90 × 38 × 25 mm — standard 1:64 castings fit, from a Mainline to a Chase. Ready to display in seconds. Made for your backpack. Built to last.
